Fredericksburg is a true-German town, founded in 1846 by a German settler, and it has carried on its traditional roots until present day. However, the city has now become a tourist attraction to Central Texas, specifically for those living in Austin and San Antonio. It is a town abundant in bed and breakfasts (over 300), hunting, fishing, shopping, antique stores, museums, and German influenced bakeries, stores, and they also are famous for their peaches.

The main street of Fredericksburg looks fairly common for a smaller city, however; if you look closer, the main street sidewalks are full of stores and tourist shops, looking like this:

We walked up and down Main Street for a while, oo-ing and awe-ing at all the different things the stores had. There were vintage signs, jams and jellies of every flavor, iron and granite stores...anything. If you have ever been to Estes Park in Colorado, it reminded me a lot of that town.
For supper, Kyle and I wanted to embrace our German heritage and find some good ol' German food. We did. We went to Auslander 'biergarten' & restaurant.

We ordered the German Specialty called "Schnitzel a la Suisse." We wanted to make sure and save room for the German beer, so we split the meal...and I was still FULL. The meal came complete with a hot German potato salad, potato pancakes, a delicious dinner bun, and even applesauce.
And of course, the German Beer! Kyle had a a Paulaner, and I had a Spaten.

After our German meal, we wandered over to the Fredericksburg Brewing, Co. to have some more beer! Instead of staying at a "Bed and Breakfast," we found a "Bed & Brew." Instead of free breakfast, we got a free beer sampler at the brewery!

The Fredericksburg Brewing Co. had renovated rooms above the brewery to rent out, and we chose the 'Cowboy' room. They all had certain themes, and we ended up in a room complete with a long horn, lasso, and even a toy gun.
