Old Stomping Grounds

About a month ago, some of my closest girlfriends surprised me with an early birthday present and chipped in to buy a plane ticket for me. A plane ticket to Fargo, ND. Specifically the weekend of the NDSU Bison Homecoming!

Just the girls. All weekend. It was wonderful.

I had a chance to catch up with Ann and Sarah and Amy and Jess and Shannon and KamiJo and others. It was some much needed girl time for me. I hang around one-too many boys down here in San Antonio.

Thursday I spent the day with Sarah and we made a much needed trip to Scheels. I was in HEAVEN. Bison gear AND Twins gear under the same roof! And no shipping charges. Amazing. After Amy was done with work that day we made a short road trip to Fredonia, ND to visit our old roommate. She had just had a baby girl a month ago so we got to hang out with her 1.5 year old and snuggle with the new baby. Too fun.

On our trip out there, I was reminded how beautiful the Midwest really is. Rolling hills, beautiful skies, nothing as far as the eye can see.

On Friday I had a chance to go visit with some of my old co-workers from Bobcat and catch up with them. It's fun going back 3 years later feeling as if not a week has gone by. That night Ann, Jess and I killed some wine bottles and had some major girl chat time.

Saturday we tailgated and cheered on the Bison for a HUGE win over Youngstown. We visited all the old college bars and ran into a lot of former classmates. Serious fun.

The Girls Tailgating. I didn't even mind that I had to wear 6+ layers of clothes to stay warm!

BLH girlies!

My plane to return to back South came waaaaaaaaaay to fast. I had such a wonderful time and hated saying goodbye, but I have come to appreciate the time I get to spend with my friends and just look forward to the next :)

Make sure and tell your friends how much they mean to you. Try and make the effort to see the friend that lives 20 minutes away that you never seem to "have the time to get together." Without getting TOO sappy, I guess I just want to say don't take the proximity of your friends for granted. Once you move 20 hours away- that is when you can say it is hard to find time to get together. ;)

p.s I didn't even mind that it SNOWED while I was there! Obviously I had so much fun with the girls that the 40ยบ weather and SNOW didn't even bother me :)

What Fargo greeted me with Thursday morning!

Taking Over Texas

On Saturday Kyles and my Alma Matter played in Frisco, TX for the FCS Championship football game vs. Sam Houstin State, TX.

NDSU vs TEXAS. How fitting!?

Kyle and I, and our friend living down here from Bisonland, roadtripped it up to Frisco (just north of Dallas, roughly a 5 hour drive) so we could go to the game. And tailgait. And see BISON people again!

It was so worth it.

We arrived late Friday night so we could enjoy the pre-game fesitivies on Saturday. Which were so much fun. I ran into some old co-workers from Bobcat. Saw some old friends and Kyle saw a bunch of old classmates (some living in TX now too!) Anyway, it was a great time. We ended up locating 3 tickets to go to the game so we enjoyed being at a Bison game again, too. I think its been 3+ years since I've been to a game!

After the game we celebrated as Champions (SHS 6, Bison 17) and before I knew it I had crashed while the boys stayed out a few more hours. It was a rough drive home, not nearly as fun as the drive there, but all in all it was a SUPER FUN Bison-filled weekend.

PROUD TO BE A BISON!!!!!!!!

KamiJo! An old friend that came down for the game.

No idea who these people are, but they were super nice and had a ton of school spirit!

SO NICE to see a flag OTHER than the Texas flag fly with the American flag!
There were a TON of creative & fun signs & t-shirts people made. Some of them quite hilarious!

The three of us watching the game! Dan, Kyle and me

Fans storming the field after we won. It was so much fun!

Go Bison!

Did you hear? I'm sure you did...the NDSU Bison played the UofM Gophers on Saturday. There were over 14,000 Bison fans at the TCF Football Stadium. 3000 tailgaiting spots were taken up by Bison Alum.

I love school spirit!

Even though I could not participate in the festivities in MN, I gathered my only friend from NDSU that I have down in San Antonio with me, Dan, to watch the game. (Kyle was on a weekend-long hunting trip). A couple of our friends invited us over to their house for a grill out and to watch their alma-mater, A&M Aggies football game, we said "Sure! As long as we can watch the Bison play after!" So Dan and I met our friends and we watched their footbal game (A&M vs. Oklahoma St) but sadly the Aggies Lost (as usual). Then came the BISON! Dan and I were pumped. I was proudly wearing my Gophers vs. Bison yellow shirt, and Dan was proudly wearing his Bison Brigade shirt. We had a great time cheering for our team while surrounded by Texans. Even the Texans had fun cheering for our team, because we won!

We ended the night was some excellent brisket and a game of Farkle. So even though I couldn't be with all my friends at the TCF Stadium (I had quite a few with tickets!) Dan and I still enjoyed cheering our Bison on for a victory!

So, please do not mind the photos (taken with my phone) or my red forhead (the sun burnt me and gave my racoon eyes Saturday morning!) But here are a couple I managed to get on Saturday.

FYI: Temps are still in the 100s, in case you were wondering how in the world I got sunburt in September ;)
