The Avengers

In the past I haven't really given many reviews of movies or books that I have read. I think if I would've you all would be bored and never look at this blog again. I do have to say, though, that I recently saw a movie with Kyle that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was VERY skeptical, and was not sure what to expect, but it ended up being better than I could have imagined.

The Avengers. If you are not into super-hero movies and such, this probably isn't the movie for you. But if you like action, witty humor, and some good fight scenes, you may want to check this movie out. Of course Iron Man is still Kyle's and my favorite, but it was all good and came together really well. I would advise seeing most of the movies before this movie, as they make a lot of comments and remarks about the previous ones. Just to help clear up some confusion.
Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Thor's Brother, Bow & Arrow Agent dude, Black Widow, and the Mentor

Anyway, if you need a fun night out, or just a little time away from the house....check it out! Robert Downy Jr. was super funny, as always.

Kyle asked me after this movie if I could have any super hero power, what would it be? I replied...."A wand. Like Harry Potter, so I could do any of those powers with a flick of my wrist." He laughed at me. haha. :) Alright, now that my nerd side has shown, yet again, I will leave you with that!

Sunshine & Summertime

Nothing marks the official start to summer like Memorial Day weekend. Something about that one day off symbolizes warm weather, grilling food, and fun with friends and family. Even though Kyle had to work most of the weekend (boo!) we did find a day to spend some time with friends. At a pool. In the amazingly sunny weather. Thankfully our friend decided to throw a birthday party at his pool...we took full advantage!

Nova and me at the pool!

Dan and Kyle wanted to bust out the volleyball net. I think they had more fun than the girls did!

Tucker even joined in on the festivities. Busted out his aviators!
Birthday boy! This picture sums up the entire day.

Kyle and I enjoying some time together <3
I would also like to say THANK YOU to my dad and grandpa, my friends and other family members that have served. I appreciate all they did and all that the current active members are doing for our nation. Thanks to all of them we can enjoy our freedom.  THANK YOU!!!

South Texas

When I say "South Texas" most of you probably are already thinking that San Anotnio is in South Texas. Here, in actual San Anotnio, the land south of us is considered "south Texas." A lot of interesting things live down there. And  a lot of interesting things happen down there. And its pretty much the Mexico border, so I don't do much down there.

This past weekend all 4 Bruns boys and Steve went on a hunting trip in South Texas. They went hunting wild bore. You know, like Pumba from the Lion King. Don't worry, these aren't nearly as nice or as cool as Pumba is. These are mean and smelly and gross. They are considered rodents here in Texas and do way more damage to ranch property and ranch animals than they do any good. And they can breed as fast as rabbits. But I think the boys all had a good time, enjoying each others company, laughing lots and shooting stuff.

Here are a few pictures of what goes on in South Texas. As in, 2.5 hours south of our house. As in Cassie will NEVER be going down there. Take a look!

Scorpions in bathroom sinks when you wake up.

Spiders the size of a HAND.

Rattlesnakes as tall as you. (Jason shot that with his bow!)

And pigs that weigh as much as me.
Yup, I will NOT be going down there. Boys only! Who wants to have a girls weekend the next time they go? ;) Glad they had fun. I enjoyed my clean, bug-free house and my AC. ;)

Just Keep Swimming

The weather is progressivley getting hotter and hotter, and in between thunderstorms (we are actually getting rain this year!) we have managed to squeeze in a trip to the lake with Tucker. It was the first trip of the year and Tucker was LOVING it. I had forgotten how much he loves to swim. And swim. And swim some more!

This is what he does after he retrieves a ball from the water. He drops it by your feet and stares at it. Willing you to pick it up and chuck it out in the water. If you ignore him, he will whine and drop the ball repeatedly by your feet until you throw it for him.

Then he looks like this:
Full-charge practically skidding across the top of the water to get to his ball.

Then after we get tired of going to the ball, we give him a chew toy to make him happy. And he still continues to swim.

Every time we go to the lake he wears himself out and makes me smile. I love this puppy dog!

'Tis the Season

We all know what season I am talking about, right? WEDDING season!!! Thankfully (oh so very thankful) most of our college friends are spacing out their marriages by 6 months or more. Which helps our travel/gift/tux/dress money budget out so much.

This past weekend (the same weekend as my sisters prom!) we were in MN for a wedding up in Bertha, MN. Small town MN. It reminded me a lot of the Olivia/BL/Hector area. Small towns that everyone is linked to. Church in one town, reception in the next.

These two have been our friends pretty much since day 1 of college. Well, Jake anyway. Amanda didn't come around until our JR year at NDSU. She traveled to Cancun with us and they both came down and visited us in TX, so they have been great friends. We were so happy it worked out to make the trip home!

Here is the lovely couple on their big day!

She had such amazing decorations, which she made 90% herself. (She is a home-ec teacher just to help you make you feel better about yourself after you look at this!) haha She made the cake toppers, the cake, and those bottles/flowers. She also made her own poms that hung from the ceiling on the dance floor. It was such an adorable wedding!

In addition to celebrating the marriage, Kyle and I got to catch up with a ton of friends from college. It was an amazing yet exhausting weekend, but I really enjoyed it! I even had some girlfriends drive from Fargo to meet me for breakfast Saturday morning before the wedding. I woudl have a picture but one of them (*cough* amy* cough*) has not shared yet!

Love these girls! All attended NDSU and enjoyed lots of weekends together!

My partner in crime for the weekend....and generally most of the time ;)

Kyle was an usher in the wedding. Nice colored suit, isn't it?!
It was a great "friends weekend" and now in just a short time it will be a "family weekend!"

How Old?!

My little sister is a senior in High School. SENIOR. I remember when she was just a little tyke tattling on my for everything. Or how she used to try and get out of washing dishes. Or play horse 24/7 around the house.

Anyway- she just had her senior prom. And she was STUNNING. Even though I wasn't able to make it, I was kept updated via pictures. Take a look...I love the peacock touch!

Can't wait to fly home in a month and celebrate her GRADUATION!!!

Annual Crawfish Boil

Have any of you ever had it? I had never tasted one until I moved to San Antonio. Our friends have a Crawfish Boil every year, and this is the second year that we have attended. (Last year Kelly was down for the occasion!) We were blessed with amazing weather. Not too hot, but hot enough. Wonderful sun, good friends, and of course, amazing food.

The crawfish is first purchased live and fresh the day off the boil and then before we cook them, they have to 'purge'. That basically means they give the crawfish and shrimp a salt bath, ultimately making them do a full body cleanse....so we don't eat any of the nasty stuff ;)

After that we drain the cooler, rinse the salt off and throw them in the boiling water. When I say it that way, it doesn't sound too appetizing! It was Dan's first ever Crawfish boil, so Kyle and our friend Jamie helped show him how to properly eat a crawfish. And how to properly identify if they were good to eat or not (I don't think Kelly or I will ever forget that!) Dan and Kyle thoroughly enjoyed the food, whereas I helped myself to some shrimp and chips and queso. Of course I had a couple crawfish, but I prefer the shrimp, personally.

Once a pot is dumped it's hard to find elbow room in next to all the guys!

Dan and Kyle enjoying some crawfish. I think they had a little TOO much fun with them ;)

The guy in the blue is Curtis, and he is the one that hosts this event every year. Shane is the other guy, the one that usually hosts all the football and pool parties.
Kyle and Jamie playing beer Frisbee.
Even though eating is the main event on this day, we also like to hang out and enjoy each others company. Lawn games, beer games, darts, talking, cards...pretty much anything under the sun you can think of we do. Its a great day, but next time I need to remember sunscreen. The first full day in the sun gets to be a lot!

Update

I have been horrible lately at posting...I haven't even finished talking about Germany! Our lives are in a slight whirlwind right now..I can barely get out the door on time and get birthday/anniversary/anything cards in the mail. Kyle has been traveling...a lot. Since he his gone it has just been Tucker and me. I think Tucker is slightly depressed when Kyle doesn't come home...I just can't throw the ball and play fetch they way Kyle does ;)

So, until I get the time to sit down and post about our crawfish boil, the lake we went to, or anything else that we have been doing, I will leave you with this picture. Hope all are healthy and happy and excited for summer!!!
