Me and the Pup

This week Kyle has been putting in some extreme hours at work. It is almost comparable to last year at this time. Almost.

Since he has been getting home after my head hits the pillow, I have been conversing with the next best thing to a human being; Tucker. I am beginning to wonder if he thinks I am crazy when I ask him if my outfit looks good.

It's hard to say no to this face.

In addition to Tucker, we (or, rather, I) have been watching Jason's dog, Koda for the week as well. So for the special 20 minutes I let them in the house a night to chilax (like that happens with two young pups) this is what I get to watch:

Koda finds Tuckers chew toys. Koda really enjoys chew toys. Tucker sees Koda chewing on his toy and gets jealous (only child syndrom kicks in) Tucker gets out another toy and pretends its awesome, and waits for Koda to go for it. Then Tucker makes his move and goes for the chew toy Koda originally started with. This game they play goes on for HOURS.

Classic entertainment right here.
After writing this post, I realize that I need more human interaction. Enjoy your weekend!

New News

Lately a few  new things have been going on in my life. On March 5, I interviewed with a company for a corporate communications job.

I found out last week that it was official! As of April 10, I will be starting a new job.

No more furniture. I will be moving into the Health Industry, something which I never thought I would work in. But, as I looked at my options, I figured, "Why not!?" Might as well give it a shot. My new job is with Community First Health Plan, an affiliate of the largest non-profit hospital system here in San Antonio (University Health Systems).

I am very excited to start this new adventure and happy to be moving forward in my career. (even though it will be adding about 15 minutes to my commute everyday!)

And, on a total different off-the-subject topic, have you heard of the game Draw Something? It keeps me quite entertained. I get to look at some quite funny drawings my friends send me. It's basically pictionary via your mobile device (an app). Can YOU tell what these pictures are?

Hope you have a great week!

When Friends Come to Town

Over the weekend Kyle and I had some friends come visit. My friend Ann and her husband, Justin, came down for a long weekend (conveniently over St. Pattys Day as well!)

I was SO excited for her to come down I didn't even know where to begin! Friday they arrived around noon and the boys went golfing and Ann and I stayed at the house and talked/tested the margaritas and prepped the food for grilling that night. When the boys were finished, we had chicken kabobs, grilled veggies and potatos. So yummy. The night ended with a few rounds of games around the table. It was so awesome that we can just pick up from not seeing each other since December and be normal, like living 1200 miles away has no impact on our friendship. Awesomeness.

For St. Pattys Day we walked the Riverwalk and since there were like 3 million people at the river for the parade, we found a mexican restuarant off the beaten path and enjoyed the views from there. We then headed to the Quarry Haufbra for a beer-rita and then we went to a friends St. Pattys Day party. Sunday we did a little mini-golf and enjoyed chilling and talking. The weekend went waaaaaay too fast, but it was SO NICE to see them and catch up.
Walking along the river! I totally missed the 80ยบ weather memo. haha

So. Many. People. at the riverwalk!

Ann and I enjoying our Beer-ritas! They were tinted green for St. Pattys Day, of course!

Ann & Justin at minigolf!

All of us at the mini golf course. We all managed a hole-in-one except one person *cough* Justin *cough* ;)

Now we need to start planning the next trip :)

I have to share with you as well, Tucker was even in the St. Pattys Day spirit!

Such a trooper!

Time Flies

Just the other night my uncle text me a picture of Tucker that I had sent him over a year ago. It made me stop and realize just how much he has grown and just how fast time really does go. My cousins recently shared online photo albums of thier little girls, who I haven't even had to chance to meet yet. My sister-in-law text me pics of her little boy, whom I've only seen twice. Sometimes its hard living so far away, but thank goodness for technology!

I know a dog is not really the same as kiddos, but its still fun to look back and compare :)

Same Ball. Bigger Dog. :)

Lake Fayette

Over the weekend Kyle, myself, and two friends went camping on Lake Fayette. It was about a 2 hour drive from our house, located in between San Antonio and Houston. As most of you know, Kyle is not the most keen on camping (no shower, sleeping on the ground, etc). Even though it was "roughing" it for the weekend, we all made the best of the situation and had a blast!

We shared a tent with the other couple we were with, which was probably a good thing. Because it was COLD on Friday. Like, got into the 40s at night cold. And then it was raining, too. ALL weekend. I think it maybe stopped raining for 2 hours the entire weekend. So Kyle and I have some excellent rain gear, tested and mother nature approved :)

We also got in some fishing. Bass fishing, to be exact. It was my first time every fishing for bass and I must say, I did great! I got 5 fish in 2 hours, and in total our group caught 10 fish in 2 hours.

Even though the weather wasn't 100% cooperating, we still had a blast and I am sure we will be going again sometime soon. Even though the rain wasn't ideal for our trip, I am still happy we got some. Any rain to help fill up the rivers and lakes is more than welcome...that will ensure for a very fun summer :)

Our campsite. The frist tent we slept in and the blue top tent was where all our food/supplies were. I know you're jealous.

Kyle and I on the boat with our rain gear and multiple layers. I know you are jealous...again.

One of my 5 bass fish I caught!

Me and the other girl on the trip, Amanda. We are pretty much awesome.

This beauty kept us warm at nights. This was one of the best fires I've had in a LONG time (thanks burn ban!) and I enjoyed multiple s'mores from it as well :)

Can it be...Spring??

Could it really be here already? Spring? I can't believe it is March, let alone the year 2012. Anyway. I think Spring is really here. Kyle and I spent the weekend at home, spring cleaning and crossing off items on the "honey-do" list.

One evidence of spring is our tree in the backyard. In just two days over the weekend it exploded in buds, getting more and more green every day. See?

Another dead giveaway is our bushes. They are called "red tips," (not sure if that is the correct name or not), but that is what everyone calls them. Either way you know seasons are changing and things are in bloom when the tips of the bushes are red. And they are RED!

And of course, the best indication is the weather. This entire weekend was low 70s, small breeze...just amazing weather. We actually had neither the heat nor the AC on (it was on last week believe it or not!). We opened all the windows (cleaned them, too!), fixed our screen patio door, put up a new ceiling fan in the living room, did some yard work, and of course, played with Tucker. It's hard to avoid him when you are outside, so if any of you have met him, you know how much he LOVES to play fetch. He will literally do it all day long, constantly bringing you a ball and placing it at your feet. So we took some breaks to play with the pup.

He is SO happy when playing fetch, or playing with any ball!
Lately he loves to jump and catch it in his mouth!

And then of course he gets hot and pants like crazy after we run him so much, so he goes for water. Although this dog does not drink as gracefully as he playes catch. He slurps and dunks his head and drools and slobbers all over the place. No water for Tucker inside the house! Again, if you have ever been to our house you probably know what I am talking about. If not, I captured a picture. Observe the drool. And water. And slobber. Its like playing a hop-skip-runaway game when he gets done drinking to avoid getting soaked as well!

Do you SEE that waterfall coming out of his mouth?!
Even though he is a putz, we love him to death and he keeps us busy.

It was an excellent weekend at home enjoying the weather and doing housework. Hopefully everyone had a beautiful weekend as well!

Let's Rodeo...One More Time

Last Saturday was the last "event" day of the rodeo. The rodeo lasts for about 3 weeks every year in February, and during those 3 weeks all the events take place (bull riding, bucking broncos, etc.) They use those 3 weeks to get the best cowboys (total score) and then the 50 best compete for the bull riding champion. $100,000 worth. For riding a bull.

But don't be fooled. These bulls are CAH-RAZY. There was one I specifically remember. He did NOT want to be penned while the cowboy got settled so he decided to climb over the gate (the cowboy got off in time, thankfully) because then the bull proceeded to FLIP over in the small space. The cowboy lasted only about 4 seconds on that one.

There were many crazy rides, only 6 out of 50 cowboys rode for the full 8 seconds. The second round only 2 rode for 8 seconds, one winning by a few points. He walked away with $100,000 in his pocket. Crazy.

After that we were treated to a Trace Adkins concert. Do you realize how HUGE he is? Well, he is. Look him up. He sang all of his famous songs including, "Chrome," "Hot Mama," "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" and many more. It was a fun Saturday afternoon in the suite with Kyle's co-workers.

Here are a few pictures!

The 50 Cowboys lined up at the beginning of the show.

Xtreme Bulls! And they were!
My pictures weren't this awesome, so I borrowed a couple from www.cowboyimages.net. See the air that bull got?!

Trace Adkins! He did a funny little hip wiggle a lot. It was entertaining!

It was a great rodeo this year, and can't wait for the next one! If you are ever interested in going, it is always for 3 weeks in February. FYI ;)
